Most travel pianos are not pianos.

Search for a travel piano and you will mostly find 49- and 61-key controllers. They travel well. They are not pianos. The moment a piece needs the low register or the top two octaves, you are transposing in your head instead of playing.

Seven octaves is the line where the instrument stops being a compromise. Pocket Piano has 87 keys at full size, with 10 mm of travel and nine sensitivity levels, so the repertoire you play at home is the repertoire you play on the road.

How it packs

Seven octaves, folded to the size of a laptop bag.

The keyboard is built from precision magnetic modules. They separate and stack in seconds, with no tools and no cables to unplug, and the whole instrument drops into the carry bag that comes with it.

At 40 cm folded and roughly 6 kg, it goes on your back and leaves your hands free.

Bag to piano, by hand.

The modules align magnetically and lock together by hand. There is nothing to calibrate and nothing to screw in.

Under the fingers

Full-size keys. Ivory II sound.

The keys are the same width as a concert grand's, with 10 mm of travel and semi-weighted action across nine sensitivity levels. Your fingering does not change when you travel.

The sound engine is built on Ivory II Steinway D by Synthogy, so what reaches the headphones is a sampled concert instrument, not a general-purpose keyboard patch.

Before you pack

Travelling with it.

How many keys does the Pocket Piano travel piano have?

87 full-size keys across seven octaves. That is the full piano repertoire, not a reduced travel layout.

How small does it fold?

40 cm folded, in the carry bag that comes with it. Assembled it measures about 1.34 m.

How much does a travel piano like this weigh?

Approximately 6 kg, including the modules. It is designed to be carried on your back.

Does it need a power socket?

No. It has a built-in rechargeable battery that runs for more than eight hours, so you can play where there is no power at all.

Can I practise without disturbing anyone?

Yes. There is a headphone output, and you can also run it into external speakers or an amplifier.

Can I use it as a MIDI controller while travelling?

Yes, over USB-C MIDI or Bluetooth MIDI, so it works as a controller for a laptop or tablet in a hotel room or a rented studio.

Does it come with a pedal?

A sustain pedal is included, along with the carry bag.

Where does it ship?

Pocket Piano ships internationally. You can also try one at an authorized dealer.
